Welcome to the University of Southampton Law Society!
Established over ten years ago, the society was originally a method of ensuring the welfare of law students at Southampton Law School. Today, this is still our primary objective in all that we offer to our 300+ members from a variety of degree disciplines.
The society is extremely proud to partner with a number of national and international law firms in order to provide bespoke careers opportunities to its members; hosting law firm presentations, offering application guidance and providing members with a chance to meet with firms at our inclusive networking sessions. Our hope is that members form valuable relationships with employers that will continue long into their chosen careers.
We recognise that studying at University is an exciting yet challenging experience, which is why we create a diverse social calendar to provide members with opportunities to meet fellow students across year groups, relax and celebrate their achievements at our popular socials and quiz nights throughout the academic year.
At USLS, we feel it is crucial that students are given the chance to develop skills that will be of great importance to their careers. Our Negotiation Competition has become increasingly successful each year and encourages students of all levels of experience to compete within the University, finishing off with a grand final where the winning team are offered work experience prizes at the sponsoring firm.
This year, we have also launched a 'Core Series' - 3 sessions delivered by the University of Law focusing on the core modules of a qualifying law degree (LLB). The idea behind this was to allow our non-law members to gain an understanding of the foundations of law, in preparation for taking the GDL. They have also served as great revision sessions for our law student members.
We invite prospective members and potential sponsors to explore this website showcasing our achievements thus far and initiatives for the forthcoming academic year and hope that you will consider joining or working with us.
